"SAY WHAT" ( JazzUrbane recordings)
Jackson, Mississippi native Michael Burton, currently on tour with Jill Scott, joins the Jazz Urbane artists roster of distinctive young artists who bring contemporary urbane Jazz, R&B and multi- styled musical elegance the label has received praise for.
Noted for his “….ablity to move through musical genres flawlessly, dynamic ambience..”, this debut record produced by Burton, is the product of enormous talent, artistry and market savvy.
Trained in music from an early age, his mother was a singer with the Mississippi Mass Choir and his father a tenor saxophonist himself. Burton’s distinctive soulful saxophone performances, riveting grooves and vocal productions are the result. Burton completed both bachelors and masters degrees in Jazz Studies under David Baker at Indiana University, then set out to tear into the industry, deeply.
Michael has as well toured with Mary J. Blige, Patti LaBelle, and Anita Baker as well as with New Edition, performed with Aretha Franklin, Young Jeezy and Eric Roberson.
He has appeared on The Tonight Show, Good Morning America,The Steve Harvey Show, Ellen and Jimmy Kimmel.
The Atlanta resident, has also played keys and sax for the Tyler Perry stage and film productions.
Michael Burton’s, Say What, follows a long line of artists such as Grover Washington jr, Najee, and recent Soul Live, Robert Glasper, Esperanza Spalding, who creatively redefine the false borders of Jazz, R&B and progressive urban contemporary radio music. Take Note…..
